FAQ

IS THIS A CLUB?

Think of it more as an abstract concept. Clubs=meetings, rules, dues, etc. We’re just a bunch of
friends who ride scooters. Some make it out every time we get together, others do when they can. It’s just a
state of mind.

WHERE DO YOU RIDE?

Los Angeles, London, and all roads in between. It’s more spontaneous and underground now.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A VESPA?

Go get one.

DON’T THEY CALL YOU GUYS THE VESPLASTICS?

One of us came up with that one, in fact. Newer scooters incorporate more polycarbonate body parts. We
take it in stride as a good laugh. The word “spastic” is in our name. We’re pretty good at self parody already.

HOW CAN I JOIN?

We’ll find you if it’s meant to be.

ARE YOU GUYS MODS?

Much of the scene we embrace came out of English culture, hence rides to British pubs and the seaside. We weren’t teenagers in pre-Beatles Britain, but we are modern and progressive thinking. There’s no specific dress code or lifestyle.  Scooter culture has been embraced by Mods, Skins, Suedeheads, Scooterboys, Rudeboys, Punks, Rockabillys, etc. Why limit yourself?

HOW MANY VESPASTICS ARE THERE?

Like a band that sticks around, lineups change. We started as three and grew to over 40.  Who knows how many remain? If it’s in you heart it’s for life, regardless of how often you ride.

DIDN’T SO AND SO USED TO BE A VESPASTIC?

Half the local scene was a Vespastic at some point. Some quit, some just get forgotten.

DIDN’T THE VESPASTICS END?

Vespastics started in May of 2003 and never stopped riding. We’ve taken some time off and adopted a lower profile. Still here.
